PROBLEM STATEMENT

Many individuals and families struggle with meal planning, grocery shopping, and maintaining a healthy diet within their budget. Existing solutions often lack integration between meal planning, shopping list creation, and recipe discovery, leading to inefficiencies and increased stress.

DESIGN PROCESS

My design process starts with the understand phase, where I conduct user interviews and competitive analysis to grasp user needs and market trends. In the define phase, I create user personas, empathy maps, and focus on pain points. During ideate, I develop user flows and information architecture. The design phase includes wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.

USER RESEARCH

For Phoodies, my user research was centered on conducting in-depth interviews. I engaged with potential users to gather detailed insights into their needs, preferences, and pain points regarding food-related apps. These interviews provided valuable qualitative data, which informed the subsequent phases of the design process.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

Yummly, Paprika Recipe Manager, and Mealime offer various useful features; however, none of them fully cover all five key areas: shopping lists, meal planner, recipe finder, nutritional information, and store integration. This presents an opportunity for Phoodies to differentiate itself by providing a complete, integrated solution.

UNIQUE FEATURES

1. SHOPPING LISTS
2. MEAL PLANNER
3. RECIPE FINDER
4. NUTRIONAL INFORMATION
5. STORE INTEGRATION

QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

I performed a competitive analysis and conducted in-person interviews. The competitive analysis involved evaluating existing mobile applications that offer features such as shopping list creation, meal planning, and recipe discovery to identify strengths, weaknesses, and market gaps. I also conducted in-person interviews with individuals who frequently engage in meal planning and grocery shopping to gather qualitative data on their pain points.
